About the event
BBC Music Day 2016, a national celebration of music, takes place on Friday 3 June.
Following the first Music Day in 2015, the BBC aims to make the 2016 event even more ambitious. The theme is the joy of playing a musical instrument, from the most innovative digital creation to the most traditional; from a bass guitar, cello or tambourine to a home-made carrot clarinet.
BBC Music Day 2016 will aim to connect communities and generations with an inspirational celebration of music across the UK. There will be large scale musical events and locally-organised activities, from inter-generational singing and a bold, imaginative musical relay to classical & pop fusions.
