The Grand Union Orchestra Summer School will take place from 5-8 August 2015 at Oundle School in Northamptonshire.
The Orchestra organised its first ever residential Summer School in 2014, attracting over 40 young musicians from London, the East of England and as far afield as Portugal. The 2015 course is designed to build on the success of the first event.
Grand Union‘s musicians hail from every major musical tradition worldwide, and the Summer School therefore offers a unique and exciting opportunity for adventurous young musicians to work alongside them to learn about world music styles and techniques first hand, discover new instruments and practise improvisation skills, meet and create with like-minded young musicians and develop their own creative voice.
The Summer School is being run by the Grand Union Orchestra in partnership with Essex Music Education Hub and Cambridgeshire Music and is supported by the National Foundation for Youth Music.
The £180 including meals, accommodation and coach transport from central locations. The deadline for applications is Friday 19 June. A bursary scheme is available.
